Super Bowl LIX: A comprehensive ranking of the top 25 commercials

Super Bowl LIX is in the books, and that means it’s time to relive the best commercials from the big game.

It’s estimated more than 120 million people tuned in for the Philadelphia Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

More anticipated in some households than the actual Super Bowl — or even the much-talked-about Kendrick Lamar halftime show — are the advertising spots that break up the periods of play.

No matter your level of engagement with the game or your football knowledge, everyone wants to watch the commercials. This year, Lamar and SZA’s trending halftime show aside, the commercials were the most entertaining part of the broadcast, partially due to the fact the game was a blowout.

In the PVR and on-demand generation of viewing, live-event advertising has become coveted ground — the most sacred and lucrative of which is Super Bowl commercial real estate — and this year, the average cost of a 30-second commercial during the game was $7 million USD, the same as 2024 and up from $5.6 million in 2021. Inflation is real, as the price was $4.25 million in 2015. With some spots selling for as much as $8 million this year, there is a good chance the price will go up in 2026.

Despite the price, the biggest day in advertising brought back the usual suspects like Google, Uber Eats, Stella Artois, Dunkin Donuts, Michelob Ultra, Pringles, Taco Bell, Budweiser and Coors Light.

There were more than 30 new advertisers this year compared to last year’s Super Bowl. New advertisers included NerdWallet, Ritz, Samsara, Instacart and Totinos Pizza.

Every year, Super Bowl ads are a time capsule that act as a social commentary on the issues and trends of the time. It was no surprise that AI was a big theme in campaigns last year and that trend continued this year.

This year, we saw more celebrities in ads than ever before. Athletes were prominently featured, including Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Nick Foles, David Beckham, Caitlin Clark, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Andy Reid, James Harden, LeBron James, Randy Moss and Sabrina Ionescu. Artificial intelligence, women’s rights, electric vehicles, consumer goods and health and wellness were the other sectors that featured prominently in ads.

Here is my top 25 list of this year’s Super Bowl ads.

25. Little Caesars Pizza – Whoa!

The Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL had an ad starring Emmy winner Eugene Levy, showcasing the all-new Bacon and Cheese Crazy Puffs. The Canadian is known for his eyebrows, which are the main subject of this spot. Levy’s daughter, Sarah Levy, also known for her role in the Emmy-winning series Schitt’s Creek, makes a cameo.

24. Go Daddy – Act Like You Know

GoDaddy is making its return to the Super Bowl after an eight-year hiatus with a new campaign starring two-time Emmy-nominated actor Walton Goggins. The spot aired during the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter and follows Goggins as he showcases how GoDaddy can turn an idea into reality, even for someone who has no idea what they’re doing.

23. Coffee mate – Coffee mate Foam Diva

Country star Shania Twain features in Coffee mate’s Super Bowl ad as a dancing tongue. The spot is for the brand’s new cold foam creamer and includes a new “proper boppy poppy song,” according to Twain. This isn’t the Canadian singer’s first exposure to the big game as she performed during the 2003 halftime show alongside No Doubt, performing hits “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and “Up!” and since then, no single country artist has been a part of the Super Bowl halftime show.

22. Pringles – The Call of The Mustaches

Adam Brody of The O.C. fame runs out of Pringles, and the Pringles mustached mascot tells him to blow into the can for more chips. The 45-year-old Critics Choice Awards-winning actor from Nobody Wants This stars in the chip brand’s commercial that calls upon other iconic mustaches, like Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, actor Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation, former NBA MVP James Harden and, of course, Mr. Potato Head.

21. HÄAGEN-DAZS – NOT SO FAST, NOT SO FURIOUS

Häagen-Dazs called on Fast and Furious cast members Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez to connect for a supposed car chase that is derailed by ice cream despite the wishes of Ludacris. There have been 11 total movies, including a spinoff, in the franchise, which began in 2001, and still, The Fast and the Furious has staying power in pop culture.

20. Uber Eats – We Listen & We Don’t Judge

Uber Eats always leans in on celebrities in their spots. This time, they teamed up Martha Stewart and Charli XCX. The Grammy winner who brought us “brat summer” and the 83-year-old food entrepreneur make up an odd couple that plays the viral social media game “We Listen and We Don’t Judge” and immediately diss each other.

Nike is betting on women’s sports once again in their spot voiced by rapper Doechii. The spot shows off their roster of top elite female athletes, including WNBA stars Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu, along with Olympic gold medalist gymnast Jordan Chiles, track and field sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson and current world No. 1 tennis pro Aryna Sabalenka. The apparel company’s first Super Bowl ad in 27 years celebrates the growth of women’s sports.

18. NERDS – Wonderful World

NERDS teamed up with iconic country music artist  Shaboozey in NERDS’ second-annual Super Bowl ad that aired in the third quarter. The chart-topping singer-songwriter reimagined the timeless hit, What a Wonderful World, mixing his multi-dimensional musical style with the sounds of a traditional second-line band.

17. Booking.com – Get your stay ridiculously right

This ad that went live in the fourth quarter demonstrated Booking.com’s ability to cater to every traveller’s unique needs and personalities by featuring a cast of characters spanning from everyday travellers to the Muppets. Kermit the Frog lounging at a beachfront vacation rental and Miss Piggy booking a high-end boutique hotel showcase how Booking.com helps travellers “get it ridiculously right every time.” This spot was developed by Zulu Alpha Kilo.

16. Budweiser – First Delivery

Budweiser’s Clydesdales ads are generally classic and simple, and that was true again this year. Anheuser-Busch elevated Budweiser from a regional to a national spot after getting positive internal feedback on its spot starring yet another Clydesdale. This time, the Clydesdale shows his keeper that he’s ready for a chance to join the pack. It is their 47th Super Bowl ad featuring a Clydesdale.

15. Coors Light – Slow Monday

It’s been a topic of conversation to make the Monday after the Super Bowl a national holiday, something that might happen in the USA if the regular season is extended to 18 games. Coors gave Canadians the same Super Bowl ad experience as our friends south of the border, but with a Canadian twist, including an original song by Canadian DJ duo Case of the Mondays. Geared to Canadians this was the rare commercial that is available in both English and French. The spot is inspired by the fact the brand turned its “Case of the Mondays” mishap last month, where they misspelled the word refreshment in a marketing campaign, into a literal case of beer with Mondays Light, limited-edition packaging for Coors Light 24-packs. As Canadians look to increasingly buy local, the limited-edition cases are produced in Quebec.

14. Taco Bell – The Fans

Taco Bell also enlisted user-generated content in their commercial that includes LeBron James and Doja Cat. The commercial leans heavily on photos of Taco Bell fans. Doja Cat has made her love of Taco Bell known and partnered with them before.

13. Ram Trucks – Goldilocks and the Three Trucks

In this Ram Trucks commercial, Glen Powell plays Goldilocks and is eventually scared off by the Big Bad Wolf. Featuring Powell, who starred in Twisters, Hit Man and Top Gun: Maverick, in a truck version of the children’s fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The soundtrack for the spot is the Van Halen classic Panama.

12. Hellmann’s – When Sally Met Hellmann’s

Hellmann’s made a rom-com with their ad as they took Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan back to where Harry met Sally, New York’s legendary Katz’s Deli. With the help of mayo, they recreated their iconic scene, this time with a cameo from Sydney Sweeney. It cleverly builds on an iconic pop culture moment while organically advertising mayo.

11. Dove – These Legs: A Dove Big Game Film

Dove has been disrupting the normal comedic Super Bowl ads with messages about body confidence for a few years now. The commercial that aired during the fourth quarter is in response to the findings that nearly half of girls who drop out of sports are criticized for their body type, with an important message about boosting body confidence in young athletes.

The spot, created in partnership with Ogilvy UK, features a re-recording of Bruce Springsteen’s iconic track Born to Run, 50 years after its original release, with an instrumental accompaniment by GRAMMY and Academy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer H.E.R. The hashtag they’re using for the campaign is #KeepHerConfident.

10. RITZ Crackers – RITZ Salty Club

In their debut Super Bowl commercial, RITZ enlisted Aubrey Plaza and Michael Shannon to showcase “the Salty Club” with their salty attitude, but Bad Bunny has other ideas. After confirming its Big Game debut in December, the salty snack brand invites fans to the “RITZ Salty Club,” a lounge located in Utah’s salt flats that hosts some of the saltiest personalities out there. The 30-second spot, which aired during the first quarter, was shot in New York on Nov. 20, 2024.

9. Bud Light – BIG MEN ON CUL-DE-SAC

The Bud Light Super Bowl commercial features comedian Shane Gillis, singer Post Malone and two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Peyton Manning. The 29-year-old singer and the 37-year-old comedian are the kings of the Cul-de-Sac in this King of the Hill-inspired spot.

8. Instacart – We’re Here

Instacart brought out all the mascot stars for the big game. This commercial stars nine brand mascots, including Chester Cheetah, the Old Spice man, Mr. Clean, the Energizer Bunny, Mountain Dew’s Puppy Monkey Baby, the Pillsbury Doughboy, the Jolly Green Giant, the Kool-Aid man and a bunch of Heinz Wiener dogs. The brands featured in the ad did not pay to be included but gave up their intellectual property, so this was a commercial for a bunch of brands at once on Instacart’s dime.

7. NerdWallet – Genius Beluga

Succession star Kieran Culkin is celebrating his Oscar nomination by playing the role of a beluga whale in NerdWallet’s first-ever Super Bowl ad. It’s not a foreign role, as he essentially channels the attitude and characteristics of Roman Roy in this spot. If you’re wondering why a beluga whale, they’re considered to be one of the smartest animals. The combination of Culkin and a CGI mammal is can’t miss and a job well done by creative agency Deutsch and director Tom Kuntz.

6. Google Pixel – Dream Job

This spot follows the story of a father as he uses Gemini Live on his Google Pixel 9 to practise for a job interview. Guided by prompts and feedback from Gemini, he crafts his answers by drawing on the memories of the one job that taught him the most: Being a parent. The spot that aired during the second quarter was developed and produced by Google’s creative teams. In the USA, Google also shined a spotlight on 50 small business owners across the U.S. with 50 30-second spots that aired in each business owner’s respective market. The campaign from Google Workspace, ‘50 Stories, 50 States,’ celebrates small business owners and their journeys.

5. NFL Focus Groups – Doritos Crash the Super Bowl

Doritos has looked for user-generated content, asking fans to film ads and in 2025, they took the concept to a new level with Doritoscrash.com. To promote the fact that they enlist Chiefs players, including Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, Xavier Worthy, Creed Humphrey and even mascot KC Wolf. Mahomes, who has been in State Farms commercials, was once again a leading man on and off the field Sunday night.

4. STōK Cold Brew Coffee – Hollywood Magic

The Wrexham FC players get a Magic Mike-inspired dancing lesson from Channing Tatum, who teaches them how to celebrate goals in Stōk Cold Brew Coffee’s ad. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have taken the Wrexham brand all the way to the Super Bowl. The Welsh soccer club, along with trying to be promoted out of English football’s League One to its second-tier English Football League Championship, partnered with team and stadium sponsor STōK Cold Brew Coffee to introduce the team to a U.S. football audience. The spot features players Ollie Palmer, Paul Mullin, Jacob Mendy and Jack Marriott, just to name a few, dancing to C+C Music Factory’s Gonna Make You Sweat. Last year, they featured Sir Anthony Hopkins as mascot Wrex the Dragon .

3. Michelob ULTRA – The ULTRA Hustle

This spot including Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe and Emmy Award winner Catherine O’Hara was a fan favourite. It also included appearances by NFL Hall-of-Famer Randy Moss, Olympic gold medalist Ryan Crouser and WNBA Champion Sabrina Ionescu. The 60-second spot touches on the growing popularity of pickleball as the iconic duo of Dafoe and O’Hara hustle their way to beating the competition and collecting Michelob ULTRA.

2. Stella Artois – David & Dave: The Other David

1. Dunkin Donuts – DunKings 2

Last year, Affleck joined forces with Damon and Tom Brady to form a boy band for his beloved coffee chain, Dunkin’. For the 2025 commercial, the DunKings are back, but Affleck is joined by surprising members like Succession’s Jeremy Strong doing his method acting best, Ben’s younger brother Casey, along with Bill Belichick and Druski.
