The doctors who operated on Saif Ali Khan assured fans that he’s out of the ICU, and they made him walk. They also recalled how Saif walked into the hospital ‘like a lion’ and didn’t even take a stretcher.

The prayers of fans and filmgoers did wonders as Saif Ali Khan is now out of ICU (Intensive Care Unit), and he’s recovering well. The doctors who operated on the Race actor gave a statement in the media assuring that he’s been shifted to a special ward, and he’s showing good improvement.

After getting stabbed by a burglar six times at his apartment in Bandra, in the wee hours of Thursday midnight, Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital.  A 2.5 mm-inch blade was removed from Saif’s spine after a five-hour surgery.

At the media briefing, Dr Nitin Dange from Lilavati Hospital said, “Saif Ali Khan is doing excellent. We made him walk and he can walk well. There is no problem and not much pain” He further said, “We have shifted him from the ICU to a special room. The visitors’ movement has been restricted for almost a week due to the injury in his spine. It has a potential chance for spreading infection.”

The Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, Niraj Uttamani said that Saif walked into the hospital “like a lion” and was accompanied by his son, Taimur Ali Khan. Reportedly, he said, Saif didn’t even use a stretcher. Mr Uttamani said, “He (Mr Khan) was soaked in blood when he arrived in the hospital. But he walked in like a lion. He is a ‘real hero’.” Uttamani claimed, “He is very fortunate. If a knife was 2 mm deeper, he would have sustained a serious injury.”

Shahid Kapoor on Saif Ali Khan’s injury

Speaking at the press conference for his upcoming film Deva, Shahid wished Saif a speedy recovery and expressed deep concern over the incident. “It’s a very sad incident. All of us are extremely shocked. We hope Saif’s health improves soon. It’s difficult to absorb that something like this could happen in Mumbai, a city we proudly call safe,” said Shahid.

On Thursday midnight, Saif Ali Khan was attacked when he was with his family members – his wife and fellow actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two sons, four-year-old Jeh and eight-year-old Taimur – at his residence in the 12-floor apartment. The police investigation is underway.
